Terms of use

Effective October 9, 2026

These terms are between you and Epiphani Studios LLC (“Epiphani”, “we”, “us”) and cover the Hush Performance app for Mac and the hushperformance.co website. Using Hush means you agree to them.

The short version: Hush has a free tier, a one-time paid license (Pro or Complete), and an optional monthly or yearly add-on called Hush Intelligence. Hush runs on your Mac, makes its own reversible choices about background apps, and ends an app only through an action you take. Pro and Complete can be refunded within 30 days.

Your license

Free, Pro, and Complete give you a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use Hush Performance on the Macs you own or control. Pro ($39) and Complete ($59) are one-time purchases that you keep, and the free tier is yours to keep too. Your license key arrives by email after checkout; enter it in Hush under Settings. A license is for you, one person, and is not for resale or sharing. Hush’s core features run on your Mac with your license key, and your settings live in a plain file on your Mac.

Hush Intelligence

Hush Intelligence is an optional add-on subscription. It reads Hush’s own performance audit and writes a plain-language fix list, using a language model that Epiphani’s service reaches on your behalf. What is sent, to whom, and when is described in the privacy policy.

What Hush does to your Mac

Hush adjusts how macOS schedules background processes, using the system’s own reversible background tier, and can pause or quit an app when you ask it to. The app in front, your protected apps, and your AI sessions are left alone. You decide the rules, and you remain in control of your machine at all times.

Deep Reach is an optional helper that you approve once in System Settings. It extends the same reversible background-priority changes to programs that run as the system, and applies a named battery power profile for Overdrive. You can turn it off any time in System Settings, General, Login Items and Extensions.

Hush’s easing and pausing are reversible by design, and Quit, which runs only when you choose it, closes an app the way macOS Quit does. As with any tool that changes how programs share a computer, a slowed program takes longer to finish its work, and you are responsible for the rules you set and for saving your work in your apps.

Updates

By default Hush checks for new versions at launch and every six hours and installs them in the background once you are not using it. You can change this in Settings. Updates may add, change, or retire features, and the changelog lists what each release contains.

Your key

You are responsible for keeping your license key secure. Contact us if a key is lost or used without your permission, and we will help.

Third-party services

Some features connect to services you set up yourself, such as Dropbox Release, which works on your own Dropbox account through rclone, and the Claude Desktop connector. Those services have their own terms, and you are responsible for your use of them. Epiphani Studios LLC is not affiliated with Dropbox, Anthropic, or Apple.

As provided

Hush is provided as is, to the fullest extent permitted by law, without warranties of any kind. You use it at your discretion. To the extent the law allows, Epiphani Studios LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of the app, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Hush in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.

Refunds

If Hush Pro or Complete is not right for you, write to us within 30 days of purchase and we will refund it. We would rather you be happy than hold a sale. Hush Intelligence ends at the close of the period you have paid for, as described above.

Ending your use

You can stop using Hush at any time by quitting it and moving it to the Trash; if you turned on Deep Reach, turn it off first in System Settings. Full removal steps, including the settings folder, are on the support page. Removing Hush leaves a Hush Intelligence subscription in place until you cancel it. We may end a license that is used in breach of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where the law of the place you live requires otherwise.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. The effective date above moves when they do, and continued use after a change means you accept the current version. We describe material changes in the changelog.
